September already,  seems like yesterday Sherri was  finishing the school year at Port Huron High. She started  back on Monday the 31st, the students will not arrive until  after Labor Day—Where did the summer go?  The fall season will be upon us sooner than we think. We  received some much needed rain and it looks like there is  more in store for us during the first week of this month. 

Unfortunately,  it rained on our plans for a service at the park,  but we had an awesome service at Grace Lutheran church instead.  Followed by a great meal and some good fellowship time with our brothers  and sisters in Christ. I do want to thank all that attended and helped as we had to move 
the venue at the late hour. I always enjoy worshipping together and lifting our voices to 
God in praise and thanksgiving.  

The choir and bells will be starting soon which brings an added component to our times 
of worship. Both of these ministries enhance our service and help us to draw closer to 
God through the great music and lyrics. Thanks to the leaders and members and all of 
the work and practice they put into sharing their talents with us.  I will be starting a Bible study series which will walk through the Apostles Creed and  help us better understand our faith and encourage us to learn and grow deeper in our  faith. I will be using a series by Adam Hamilton called “Creed”. The books are available online via Amazon, Christian Book Distributors (CBD), or Cokesbury and are around  $15.00 each. If you would like to participate but don’t have access to the internet, let me  know and I can order some for you.  

The study will be on Tuesday afternoons at 1:00pm and if there is enough interest we  can do one in the evening hours as well. Plus, we can determine exactly which evening once I know who would attend and what evening fits best for all. I will be on vacation during the last two weeks of September, and during the first week of October I will be  attending a retirement seminar, so the Bible Study will not begin until the second week of October, so there is plenty of time to get your book.

 I also want to extend a big thank you to Bill Hall and Bob Currier who helped when the 
wash machine in the parsonage gave out. Bill was quick to get a new one for us and Bob 
helped get the old one out and prepare the space for the new machine. We are very 
grateful to be a part of the faith communities here in Vassar. Your care for us has been 
excellent we are very blessed.  I am looking forward to the next several months, as this could be the last holiday season 

I serve as the pastor of a church, so I will savor every service/event knowing that God 
will continue to lead and guide, and bless Sherri and I as well as the people at both 
churches here in Vassar.
